Couples Counselling in Southport & Online

Supporting Relationships with Care and Understanding

When Relationships Feel Difficult

Couples often seek support when communication feels difficult, emotions feel heightened or connection feels strained. Couples counselling offers a safe and steady space to explore what is happening between you and begin understanding one another in a clearer and more compassionate way.

Every couple brings shared experiences, individual histories and relationship patterns. Counselling provides space to explore these safely and respectfully, without focusing on blame or deciding who is “right.”

My Integrative Approach to Couples Counselling

My approach is rooted in person-centred values, helping each partner feel heard, understood and supported.

I also draw on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to explore thinking patterns such as jumping to conclusions or all-or-nothing thinking that can intensify conflict or misunderstanding.

By bringing these approaches together, I help couples slow down reactive patterns, strengthen emotional connection and develop clearer, more compassionate communication.

Communication & Understanding

Explore communication patterns and find clearer ways of expressing needs and feelings.

Recurring Conflict

Understand cycles of disagreement and the patterns that can keep couples feeling stuck.

Connection & Closeness

Create space to explore emotional distance, changing needs and ways of reconnecting.

Relationship Changes

Support through life transitions, changing circumstances and pressures affecting your relationship.

What Couples Counselling Can Help With

Confidentiality in Couples Counselling

In couples counselling, confidentiality applies to the therapeutic process and to information shared within sessions. I will explain how confidentiality works when working with two people, including how information shared individually is handled.

There are limited circumstances where information may need to be shared, including:

When Confidentiality May Need to Be Broken

Where possible, any need to share information will be discussed with you beforehand.

If you have any questions or concerns about confidentiality, privacy or how your information is handled, you are always welcome to ask.

Your comfort, trust and sense of safety are an important part of the counselling process.
