Help With Eating Disorders

Eating disorders are serious mental illnesses
– not a lifestyle choice.

They affect people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds.

It’s not just about food – it’s about feelings, control, and coping.

Common types include but are not restricted to:

Anorexia

A serious eating disorder where individuals restrict food intake, often driven by a deep fear of gaining weight and a distorted body image.

Bulimia

An eating disorder marked by cycles of binge eating followed by behaviors like vomiting or over-exercising to prevent weight gain.

Binge Eating Disorder

A condition where individuals frequently consume large amounts of food in a short period, often feeling out of control and distressed afterward.

ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder)

A complex eating disorder where individuals avoid food due to sensory issues, fear of choking, or lack of interest, leading to nutritional challenges

OSFED (Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder)

A term for eating disorders that don’t meet the full criteria for anorexia, bulimia, or binge eating disorder but are still serious and need support.

Pica & Rumination Disorder

Pica involves eating non-food items, while rumination disorder involves regurgitating and re-chewing food, both requiring compassionate care.

T1DE (in type 1 diabetes)

T1DE refers to disordered eating behaviors in people with Type 1 diabetes, often involving insulin manipulation and unique emotional challenges.

Anyone can be affected – regardless of appearance or identity.

The sooner someone gets help, the better the chance of recovery. Treatment works.
Support saves lives.
